That was the case for a maker of automotive headlight glass that was preparing to commission a new production line. They wanted to improve the quality conformance of glass produced on the new line, so they approached us for technical support.
Our experts supported their operations team with a full array of tests on defective glass from their previous batches. Then, we helped them optimize the product formulation. As a result, their quality conformance improved from 50% to 80%.

Harness curiosity to drive innovative borate solutions
In addition to working with customers, our technical marketing team adds to the body of scientific knowledge. Through research into new applications for borates, we help solve critical needs such as:
- Ensuring high-quality borates for production of specialty and pharmaceutical glass manufacturing
- Fulfilling increasing demand for borates in the production of electric vehicles (EVs)
- Improving product performance and supporting sustainability across sectors such as construction, and recycling

In partnership with our customers, we’re exploring:
- The use of boron oxide to improve the properties D-glass fibers and coatings for electronics while reducing melting temperatures required for manufacture
- The importance of high purity boric acid in batteries and capacitors
- Using anhydrous borates to improving waste copper recovery in metal recycling operations
- Production of boron trifluoride (BF3), a catalyst used in processes such as electronics manufacturing
- Increasing the adhesion strength of wall putty powder
