Sales, operations, and logistics: Working to meet customer demand

:: Wednesday, January 15, 2025 :: Posted By Jen Brown

U.S. Borax ships our product from operations on two continents to customers and stock points around the world. In order to meet the shifting needs of our global customers, we have a team of operations and logistics experts who collaborate to continuously improve our supply chain.

Here’s how we’re finding better ways™ to bring you the borates you need.

Assessments

Our sales and customer service teams regularly share target and contracted volume information with our on-site teams. As a result, we are able to efficiently move product between bulk, rail, or truck shipments depending on customer requirements.

We regularly ship hundreds of containers per week, and our packaging team averages even more than we typically ship in order to ensure prompt delivery when and where customers need them.

Process and system improvement

Recently, our sales and digital operations teams worked together to streamline our process flow and ensure data alignment across our systems. Our commercial logistics team provided valuable feedback and continuously fed operations empty containers, while managing drayage providers’ performance to maximize capacity for daily port delivery. This collaborative effort not only simplified our packaging and shipping processes but also enhanced our ability to track and manage these shipments.

Our teams have done a significant amount of work to understand and refine our supply chain process. These teams deeply understand what it takes to deliver every container to the port, and they are passionate about achieving our group targets.” – Sarah Suek, Shipping Manager, Boron Operations

Enhancements across our supply chain translate to efficiencies when it comes to your orders. We have developed a robust real-time management system that optimizes our operational efficiencies from mine to market.

Future monitoring

Once a change has been made, we monitor our systems and modify steps in the process as the need arises. We have a collaborative company culture where all of our team members are empowered to have the curiosity for innovation and the courage to try new things.

You can never outperform your own self-image. As the team sought to lift performance together, we also needed to lift our self-belief—this was critical to success.” – Bradley Webb, General Manager, Commercial Logistics

U.S. Borax strives for customer satisfaction excellence. As we set new improvement goals for 2025, we will continue to build on this momentum. Contact any member of our commercial team to learn more about how we can better serve your borates needs.
