Applications for the 2019 Borax Visitor Center Foundation grant are now being accepted. The Borax Visitor Center Foundation—made up of company and community leaders—oversees the disbursement of Visitor Center funds through this annual grant program.
The grant supports nonprofit, tax-exempt, and governmental organizations in and around our U.S. mine in Boron, California. Over the past two decades, the Foundation has returned more than $300,000 to the local community—nearly $100,000 in scholarships.
Past recipients have included:
- Youth sports organizations for athletic and safety equipment
- Local public schools for field trips and scholarship funds
- Senior’s centers for maintenance projects
- Health outreach programs
To be eligible, organizations must be a government entity (such as schools) or non-profit, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(6) as defined by the Internal Revenue Service. Organizations must focus on one or more of these areas:
- Education
- Health and human services
- Community improvement
- Historic preservation
And, be located in and provide services to one or more of these California communities:
- Boron
- Desert Lake
- North Edwards
- Aerial Acres
- Kramer Junction
Religious, political, or fraternal organizations or those outside the grant area are ineligible.
